The Lilli Trippe Shave Team is excited that Dorothy St. Claire has volunteered to “Brave the Shave” in 2018. Dorothy has been part of our family, part of the String Summit Family, and part of the Kinfolk family for as long as we can remember. When asked why Dorothy is making such a huge sacrifice she said:
“I first met Kristin, Aaron, and Lilli Trippe on February 5, 2011 at Jannus Live seeing Yonder Mountain String Band. Lilli was well-known in the Kinfolk community, being Yonder’s newest Kinfolk Hall of Fame inductee and the inspiration for the song “Lilli Has A Daydream”. Like so many others, I was moved by Lilli’s story and angry at a world that would put a child and her family through so much.
I have watched many of my friends “Brave the Shave” in honor of our dear Lilli. I have shared donation information, donated what I could afford, urged those around me to do what they could, and photographed many of the head shave events. But I knew I could do more. So I decided to go for it. I’ll be shaving my head at the 2019 Northwest String Summit and I invite all of you to come out and support our cause.
I shave my head for Lilli, Kristin, Aaron, and Viola. I shave my head for all of the children and their families who are affected by such a cruel illness as childhood cancer. It’s just hair, but by shaving it all off I hope to bring joy to many children and their families. Donations will all go to the Chelsea Hicks Foundation and Chelsea’s Closet, and this year, we’re going big. Our dear Kinfolk brother Michael Walker has decided that our goal is to raise $20,000. Can we do it? I think we can.”
I think that Dorothy is right! Let’s work together to make this the BIGGEST shave yet, and to keep giving kids hope and healing through dress up and play!
